I seek to create an idealized and idiosyncratic reality, to portray beauty, mystery, and sometimes fancifulness in stylized portraiture, scenes, and scapes, to capture the romance of times past and places remote, and to communicate concepts and moods through visual symbols and archetypal, iconic images.
Entirely self-taught and having developed my own techniques, I am often categorized as an outsider or folk artist or even a naif, although my methods are in fact quite sophisticated and require great time and care. At present I am working mostly in acrylic often with underpaintings, glazings, and texture mediums and/or with Prismacolor® overworkings.
Working full-time as an artist, I endeavor to achieve a high degree of professionalism, seriousness, and dedication toward my work and aspire to create a varied body of work that will compel, inspire, entertain, ... and, hopefully, have some lasting value.
